Research Assistant (KTP Associate) – Acoustic panel manufacturing at Brunel University in London

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. You will undertake a 2-year collaborative project between Soundsorba and Brunel University London. The post will be based predominantly at the company’s premises in High Wycombe and the post holder will take a leading role in the development of automated lean production to improve the efficiency and capacity of acoustic panel manufacturing whilst meeting industry standards. Streamlining workflow and introducing optimised manufacturing processes are also expected to result in better product quality, cost saving and reduction in wastes and energy consumption.
You will receive extensive practical and formal training, gain marketable skills and broaden your knowledge and expertise in Industry 4.0 oriented manufacturing.
You will be a graduate in Manufacturing/Mechanical/Electronic/Computer/ Industrial Engineering with a Masters or good (1st or 2:1) Undergraduate degree in the relevant discipline. Ideally you will have background knowledge in quality engineering tools, lean manufacturing, six sigma, automation, robotics and AI.
You should have good analytical and experimental skills, covering manufacturing, mechanical, electronics, mechatronics, ICT, computer interfacing and programming. Experience in machine learning, AI and IoT will be desirable.
You will have the ability to plan and organise your own workload, and be able to work to a deadline. You must be willing to take ownership of the project including management of finances, resources and timing.
You will benefit from a personal training budget of £4k, and additional residential management training courses as part of the KTP programme.
