ASA Webinar Series Acoustical Sciences • Applications of Acoustics • Careers in Acoustics Register for the Webinar Wednesday, 22 September 2021 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. EDT Engineering Bubbles for Ultrasound Imaging and Therapy Eleanor Stride, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK |
Eleanor Stride is Statutory Professor of Biomaterials at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Oxford, Oxford, UK. After completion of her Ph.D., she was appointed to a Royal Academy of Engineering and EPSRC Research Fellowship and subsequently a Readership before joining the University of Oxford in 2014. Professor Stride’s research interests are focused in two areas: Drug delivery systems engineering and Biomedical ultrasonics. Her research seeks to model, design, and synthesize bioengineered microbubbles that can carry and deliver bioactive agents such as cancer therapies. She has demonstrated an ability to create bubbles from synthetic materials and evoke “on demand” release of bubble contents by stimulating them with medically safe ultrasound waves. She has published over 160 academic papers, holds 7 patents, and is a director of 2 spin-out companies set up to translate her team’s work into clinical reality. Professor Stride is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America (ASA) and the Royal Academy of Engineering. She has been awarded The Leverhulme Trust Philip Leverhulme Prize (2009), the ASA R. Bruce Lindsay Award (2013), the Institute of Engineering and Technology AF Harvey Prize (2014), and the Blavatnik Award for Young Scientists (2020). She has been included on the lists of 50 Most Influential Women in Engineering (2016) and the100 Most Influential Women in Engineering (2019). Register for the Webinar– No Fee to register |
