Institute of Acoustics, Yorkshire and North East Branch Meeting – Online Zoom meeting

Simon will discuss the simple equations for point source type propagation and their conditions of validity with respect to source dimensions and distance from source. The Environment Agency frequently encounter examples where these equations are used erroneously with subsequent underestimations of sound power, sound pressure at receptors and hence of overall noise impact. ISO documents, BS 5228 and some examples of incorrect practice will be discussed.

Simon Scott works in the Air Quality Modelling and Assessment Unit (AQMAU) of the Environment Agency. The unit includes acousticians and audits both noise and air quality impact assessments for the National Permitting Service (NPS) of the EA.

Booking is essential as places are limited

The event is free to members of the IOA from all branches, as well as to students and the public.

The meeting will be run via Zoom
