Technical Specialist (Acoustics) – KTP Associate at Salford

Closing Date
6 December 2019

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Engineering graduate to fast-track their career development as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) Associate. The successful candidate will undertake a 31-month collaborative project between iKoustic Ltd (providers of soundproofing products and acoustic systems solutions) and the University of Salford (Acoustics Research Centre, School of Science, Engineering and Environment).

This post is a dynamic role looking to embed a robust R&D function based on the science of acoustics, focused on creating quieter, slimmer, multi-functional building partitions, utilizing recycled, environmentally-friendly materials.

Based in Wetherby, Yorkshire, you will be supported by the staff from the company and an academic team from the University of Salford whilst undertaking scientific research work. In addition to working in a commercial company in close contact with other staff, the Associate will gain experience of being a key player within the growth of the business.

This project will provide iKoustic with the knowledge of how to employ a sub-structuring methodology to predict sound and vibration levels in buildings subject to excitation by internal vibration sources, leading to innovative partition design.

The KTP will embed new innovative methods of modelling as a fundamental part of the company’s product development process in order that iKoustic can continually innovate as the demands of the market change. Furthermore, this project will provide iKoustic with the tools and capability necessary to maintain high levels of innovation critical to their growth aspirations and strategy in the longer term.
