Gardline are offering an exciting opportunity to join their Acoustic team by presenting a role for a Marine Acoustic Technician. The role will be 12 month fix term contract with the possibility of extension.

The advertised role is offshore only and allows the candidate to be based worldwide.

The candidate will be expected to conduct acoustic surveys through the use of passive acoustic monitoring systems (PAMS) and noise measurement systems during offshore activities both nationally and internationally.

Projects may include marine mammal mitigation or monitoring, ambient noise measurements and operational noise monitoring to support the Offshore wind and O&G industry in the conservation of marine mammals and fish.

When offshore the candidate will play a key role in the use of PAM systems and be responsible for deployment, recovery, maintenance and upkeep of acoustic equipment, in accordance with HSSE and QA standards. They will also be accountable for pistonphone calibrations and CTD measurements during operational and ambient noise monitoring.

The candidate will be in charge of the management of data collection and processing of data at sea.

Applicants will be of degree calibre or equivalent in a relevant discipline and possess an understanding of marine acoustics, including both hardware and field experience, preferably with mooring design and deployment.  Additionally, familiarity with the use of PAMS, CPODs or other underwater noise monitoring equipment is desirable.
