LSBU are looking for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer to help deliver undergraduate and postgraduate Acoustics and Building Services Engineering courses. The role will include leading a new Apprenticeship course, the Acoustics Technician Apprenticeship at Level 4.

About you

You should have the following skills/experience/attitude qualities:

  1. PhD in a relevant discipline and/or an equivalent professional status e.g. MIOA/CEng.
  2. Vocational teaching experience, blended delivery would be particularly relevant.
  3. Knowledge of UK Acoustics and Building Services Engineering standards, guidance, and legislation.
  4. A strong research record.
  5. Comfortable working as part of a team and with management experience.

Exciting work you will do

This is a new role, which will help to deliver (for the first time) an acoustic apprenticeship programme in the UK and thus, there will be a scope to be creative with the delivery. There will be an opportunity to be involved in research within the reputable and leading (in the field) Acoustics Research Group that has worked on many projects and partners including but not limited to: architectural acoustics – Royal Opera House, speech intelligibility – London Underground, music and hearing – Royal Academy of Music, environmental noise assessment – London Heliport and Drones and material science-metamaterials.

The skills and experience you will need to be successful

The successful candidate will be qualified in Acoustics, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or Building Services Engineering discipline at undergraduate level and hold a doctoral degree related to Acoustics. The candidate should be a member of a relevant professional body and preferably hold an IEng or CEng status.

Experience of teaching in Higher Education would be beneficial as would knowledge of acoustic industries and writing research bids. The role would require taking on management responsibility for the Apprenticeship course and hence experience of running a course would be highly beneficial.
