The commercial Acoustic Laboratories at the University of Salford house 11 technical experts working across a continuum of industrial research, development and testing. We are seeking a motivated member of staff to join the Acoustics Laboratory, working in the Industrial Research team on bespoke projects for commercial clients and on applied research projects.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with knowledge and experience in the areas of automotive acoustics (NVH), vibration, sound perception, virtual environments, audio systems and product development.

The role holder requires skills and experience in scientific measurement and instrumentation (preferably in acoustics), carrying out consultancy or contract research, analysing experimental data, technical reporting and use of Matlab, Python or similar. Experience of disseminating the outcomes of research in publications and/or at conferences would be desirable. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required to continue the culture and ethos of the post which is directed towards applied research and team working.

The role is intended to develop and promote the research and commercial test offering of the acoustics laboratories at University of Salford, and to assist in the generation of income from the facilities and the delivery of commercial projects.
