This is bi-monthly “Beyond A PhD” series organised by the UK Metamaterials Network. Visiting speakers from a variety of industrial and academic research environments will give insights in their experiences since they graduated.
Their next speaker is Dr Peter Harley, Senior Research Manager (Aeroacoustics) at Dyson. Peter completed an MEng in Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering in Queen’s University Belfast (QUB) in 2010, staying on at QUB to complete a PhD in turbomachinery meanline modelling with Prof Stephen Spence and sponsored by IHI Charging System International. He started into the automotive industry in 2014 as a Development Engineer with IHI (Heidelberg, Germany). He then joined Dyson as a Senior Aero Engineer in the Dyson Home business in 2016, before being fast-tracked through a series of internal leadership programs. Peter is currently a Senior Research Manager in Dyson with technical and people responsibility over a multidisciplinary group of 20 people.
