Cynthia F. Moss is Professor of Psychological and Brain Sciences, with joint appointments in Neuroscience and Mechanical Engineering at Johns Hopkins, where she directs the Comparative Neural Systems and Behavior Laboratory, aka the Bat Lab. Research in her lab investigate questions such as “How does the brain represent dynamic sensory information from the natural environment? and “How are sensory and motor activity patterns coordinated to direct actions in 3D space?” through studies of echolocating bats. Current research projects focus on mechanisms of sensorimotor integration, scene perception, spatial attention, and memory.
Cynthia is a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and the International Society for Neuroethology. She has served on the Editorial Boards of several journals including JASA and JASA Express Letters. She received the National Science Foundation Young Investigator Award (1992), the Hartmann Prize in Auditory Neuroscience (2017), the James McKeen Cattell Award (2018) and the Alexander von Humboldt Research Prize (2019).
