Currently I am working on my PhD in underwater acoustics, with focus on the analysis of sound propagation for the improvement of marine mammals mitigation strategies.
What would you like UKAN to do for you?
Put me in contact with people of all the different disciplines of acoustics, so we can share knowledge, experience and fresh ideas. Also provide a platform for personal development through courses, workshops and conferences.
How would you like to contribute to UKAN?
Becoming part of any activity such as courses or workshops, where I can interact with other professionals and academics and share ideas and experiences. I currently work in underwater acoustics but I have solid background in audio engineering, signal processing and room acoustics.
Seiche Ltd is a relatively small company, and as such it hasn't got relevant test facilities. However, the company comprises four branches within which acoustics are applied. These branches are part of Seiche Water Technology Group (SWTG), and comprise Seiche Measurements (R&D, underwater acoustic measurements and modelling), Seiche Training (education in underwater acoustics), AutoNaut (Unmanned Surface Vehicles) and Ashridge Engeneering (Water Technology). The company and all its branches are open to collaboration.
Software or numerical codes:
The company has developed software for the analysis, processing and representation of acoustic and navigation data collected for the purpose of underwater sound source characterisation. Another piece of software is the seismic air gun modelling toolbox, which can simulate the acoustic signature of air gun arrays used in seismic exploration of oil and gas. New software for the simulation of underwater sound propagation is currently being developed.
