I am a field-recordist and creative practitioner who is interested in our underwater sonic environments. I'm also a Music Technician at Newcastle University.
What would you like UKAN to do for you?
I would like UKAN to create opportunities for collaboration with other researchers working with underwater sounds and exploring how the Arts (sound and music in particular) can widen engagement with marine issues. Access to data and/or audio recordings for creative interpretation would be a great, and I hope to learn more about species identification too.
How would you like to contribute to UKAN?
My contributions would come in the form of sonic installations, sonifications of acoustic data and creative practice activities. I would like to contribute to audio databases if they exist.
My last project was in collaboration with Newcastle's Marine Engineering department exploring the Acoustic Network Gateway Buoy (ANGY) anchored of the coast of Blyth in the North Sea. These network array centres around NetTag underwater transponder technologies.
